About Asterias

Asterias is published by Maxence Lassus, an independent developer based near Lyon, France. One person, not a sales team. That is what explains the price, the pace of updates, and the fact that whoever writes these lines is whoever answers when you write in.

Why this product exists

A local business gets between five and fifty Google reviews a month. Answering them is one of the most profitable things it can do for its listing, and it is the first thing to go when the day is full.

The tools that exist are built for chains: a dashboard to run, collection campaigns, several review platforms, several hundred euros a month per location. They are good, and they are not addressed to a bakery.

Asterias does one thing. It follows your Google reviews, writes the answer in your voice, and sends you anything that needs your judgement on WhatsApp or Telegram. There is no dashboard to open every morning, because that moment does not exist in a working day.

What the product does not do

It does not solicit reviews for you, and it does not filter your customers before asking them for one. That practice has a name, review gating, it is against Google’s policy, and it is one of the reasons listings get suspended.

It does not remove reviews. Nobody can except Google, and only when the review breaks its rules. A guide on this site explains the difference between a review that is a Google policy matter and one that is a court matter, because confusing the two costs weeks.

It promises no ranking. Answering reviews is one signal among others in local search; it is not a lever that moves a business from tenth place to first.

It publishes nothing below four stars without your approval, unless you explicitly ask it to in your settings. That is not the default, and a review flagging a serious problem comes to you in every case, whatever your settings say.

It does not answer a rating with no comment. A listing where every bare star carries the same all-purpose thank you is exactly what "these replies are written by a machine" looks like to the next customer.

How AI is used, and what stays yours

The writing goes through a language model. It is the question we are asked most, so it is worth answering in full rather than in one line of FAQ.

The model receives the review, the description of your business, your trade, and the voice you set or that Asterias inferred from replies you had already published. It receives nothing about your customers beyond what the review already says in public.

You remain the author of, and responsible for, every reply published under your name. It is written into the terms, and it is not boilerplate: a public answer commits your business, not our software. It is also why anything delicate comes to you first.

Google does not forbid AI-assisted replies. What is penalised is misleading content: a generic answer pasted everywhere, an answer that invents a fact, an answer pretending to come from someone else. That is why Asterias quotes what the customer actually mentioned, and why it stays silent in front of a rating with no text.

What the pages on this site promise

The guides and comparisons follow three rules. No figure without a linked, dated source. No promise of ranking. No competitor described as anything other than what it publishes on its own site.

When a comparison says a competitor is better at something, it is because it is. A page that concedes nothing to the competition teaches nobody anything, and earns no belief on anything else.

If you find an error on one of these pages, write in: it gets corrected, and the revision date shown at the top of the page changes.

Independence

Asterias is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google. The product uses the publicly documented Google Business Profile API, under the authorisation you grant by connecting your listing and can withdraw at any time from your Google account.
